...just to backtrack a minute...
We're back in the rock and roll cafe here....
We spent a lovely night in a small village called Villapiana before we got to Lecce...the B&B was owned by Angelo, who couldn't have been nicer. He met us with freshly squeezed orange/lemon juice, and recommended a restaurant down the road...
Let's just call it another epic meal....Antonio, the owner, met us with a glass of Prosecco. We couldn't decide what to have, so he suggested a "flight" of pasta: gnocchi withh shrimp, pasta with mussels, another pasta with prawns and a pesto sauce...all this after an appetizer of local fish (kind of like anchovies) and fresh baked flatbread. We thought we were done, but WAIT, there's more....
Next, he brought us the most tender filet of beef we've ever had..wrapped in pancetta with a wonderful wine and cream sauce...followed by the "contorno" (vegetable) - chickory with caramelized onions smothered in paprika bread crumbs...yum !
Of course there was dessert - little ricotta tarts - after dinner drinks something called passito (we think...) - very nice !
We stumbled back to the B&B about 11pm, only to be met at the door by Angelo, who offered us some limoncello...phew ! Luckily, we've been walking ALOT !
We'll stay in touch as best we can (look on Facebook for a nice pic Angelo took of us)
Hugs to all...Chris and her let's walk it off husband
