...another drive, another dinner...

We had a lovely drive yesterday through the Cilento mountains and national forest...tiny villages hidden in valleys where very few people reside, beautiful mulini (ancient stone water mills), long-abandoned ruins, and glimpses of the sea at every turn. This part of Campania is not very touristed, so it's perfect for us...unspoiled and pristine...

After an afternoon siesta, we were ready for the next fantastic dinner...a seafood feast !  Oreste (our host) had been to the waterfront in the morning, and cooked the best seafood meal we've ever had.  We started with spaghetti alla vongole (clams...tiny, sweet, tasting of  the sea) with parsley and tomatoes, a dish I never would have considered ordering before, but it was amazing...next came cozze gratinate - breadcrumb stuffed mussels (THE BEST, thanks to Mama) , then on to the main attraction - orata , (a wonderful local white fish), done with mussels, cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, wild asparagus, white wine...plus a side of small zuchinni that were roasted then sauteed with garlic, balsamic vinegar and mint...plus a salad of greens, fennell, and radishes...

A local white wine made from the Fiano grape (for all you winos out there...), and, finally, a great cake made by Adrianna - as if we needed dessert at that point...but it was too good to pass up...

We know that there are no doggie bags allowed, and it's an insult not to finish a plate of food, but we were struggling !  You'll be glad to know that we finished every bite...phew !

Today it's been raining on and off (mostly on), so we took a short walk around the pedestrian area in Agropoli and came back to rest...we'll drive back into town for pizza tonight as we try to take a break from the "epic meals"...

There will be more pics on Facebook soon...
Hugs, Chris and her not another bite husband

Note: my email account was hacked into by someone in Romania (really ??), so if you get an odd looking link from my address, don't open it...do these people have nothing better to do ??
