Another day, another beautiful town to visit...this one was Caltagirone, known for its ceramics.  There is a church at the top of a steep hill that is lovely...to reach it, you have to climb 142 steps...that are all decorated with hand painted tiles  !  pretty amazing...even more amazing is that we did it....at least we weren't pushing a stroller like the woman in one pic !

In one shop, the owner took us up to his studio, made me sit down, and instructed me how to paint a small ceramic cactus...the other artists there got a kick out of that !  What wonderful, friendly people we've found here....I've got to send the photos in two batches, so stay tuned....
